Flow bikes are designed developed and tested in the UK and manufactured to the highest standards possible. Our philosophy is one of super clean products, designed to be as durable and light as possible. We put material where it is needed and eliminate all those gimmicks some other companies use to sell their products ( who really needs a can opener and a thing for getting thorns out of tigers feet built into their bike anyway)! Flow products are designed in conjunction with our extensive dirt, street and 4X teams and are tested by our riders who compete in the discipline the product is designed for, we feel this is the only way to ensure every product we design is capable of meeting the demands of competitive riding at the highestlevel.
Its normally a pretty glum time throughout the winter, not much riding going on and the like due to bad weather and short days. But for me there’s been a lot more riding going on. After spending 12 weeks in a chair, following my ankle/heel accident, my 4x season went down the pan really. Previous months I raced and got a 3rd at Bridgnorth, which hyped me up to get better results thinking I might get a good overall position in 09. But my luck was out after the trivial crash at Redhill. Thus I have made more effort to get out whatever the weather this winter.
I traded my normal dry weather, trails riding attitude into an all weather, get out there anyway frame of mind. I bought a sus-trail bike, brilliant for riding Forest of Dean and U.K tracks. Its been great, getting muddy riding loads of downhill tracks, drifting loose corners and pushing my limits as a pretty single minded rider. I opened up, and it presented me with a huge amount of fun. Never did I think wet corners, roots and rocks would have me excited and wanting more. I used to only get enjoyment from going high, sideways over some beautifully crafted trails or pumping a smooth, fast 4x track.
Redhill is my home for riding, and its great to have such a successful spot on my doorstep. The 4x track has taken second spot this year, a few tweaks being made but no huge changes. As people may have read in DIRT, Redhill now has a dirt park/bowl thing going on. This is super fun to ride, and I think it may bring new riders in this year. The main building we’re concentrating on is going to be the trails and dirt jump area. Consisting of 1 six pack of beginner tables, 1 eight pack of king of dirt style jumps and mixed trails running between and next to them. Hopefully this will give the riders more of a challenge, and give it less of a couple of random jumps look, but a more complex trails network.
This year I plan to broaden my riding, and try to get to as many events as possible. The National 4x series is going to be the main one for me. But I feel I need to go back to my roots, riding with some old faces that have showed me great times, back to the King of Dirt series. General riding with Newman, Dylan and everyone from the Flowtrip would be good too. If I can fit it in, organise a trip to Europe, similar to a few years back. See if I can fit it all in!
May 2010 fill you with lots of riding…
